To obtain the exchange rate for Papua New Guinea, you can access this by clicking on the following link:

http://www.pngbd.com/finance/index.php

Click on:  'Show Rates' on the right hand side of the screen.

When the next box opens up, its the 'inward' exchange rate that is used in the column on the left hand side.  The table on the right hand side is for money being sent out of the country.

As at today 28th April for example, a K150.00 room converted into Australian Dollars would be:  $63.00 at the rate of .4227

Gday Gail and fellow trekies,
well i have bitten the bullet and things are underway for my return trek with KTL in 2011, having completed my first in september 2006.
With me will be a couple of return trekkers and hopefully a few new ones.

Sogeri Lodge looks like it would be perfect for the night before the trek, away from the bright lights of Port Moresby - I was wondering if we could get some recommendations from anyone thats stayed there before trekking? Would the self contained annex with 7 beds be suitable for the whole Trek party?

Gail, do you still do a trek briefing the night before at Sogeri, or leave it till the morning of the trek, or not worry about doing one?
And when would a visit to Bomana War Cemetery take place, before or after the trek is completed?

Hi Dave,

Gail is in Kokoda at the moment, so I will answer your questions.

Post Trek accommodation is now included when trekking from Ower's Corner to Kokoda, and Gail will arrange suitable accommodation for your group.

You normally visit Bomana War Cemetary on the way to Sogeri Lodge time permitting. Otherwise you visit it when you return from Kokoda.

The brieifing will either be done at the Bomana War Cemetary or Sogeri Lodge the day you arrive in Port Morseby or if time does not permit on the morning prior to your walk.

Cheers

Shane

Hi Gail

What a great place, certainly fills the bill for a night before and after the Trek, as long as we can get Steak sandwich, a plate of hot chips and a cold SP (which we did in 2005) after a week of rations!

Look forward to enjoying the hospitality in April/May next year.

Regards
