A single trekker by the name of Darren McGilvray arrived in PNG this afternoon.  He was met by our staff and driven out to Owers' Corner to commence his trek along with Harold Hauro his guide and food porter Essau Eroro. I just got off the phone with Harold.  He said they left Owers' Corner around 4:30pm this afternoon and a short day down to Goldie River was his decision.  Tomorrow they plan on reaching either Ioribaiwa or Ofi Creek.

Darren accompanied by Harold Hauro (Guide) and Essau Eroro (Food Porter) both from Kokoda have left Goldie River this morning and are at the moment making their way up to Imita Ridge.

Harold recently walked alongside another solo trekker by the name of Andrew who was blown away by his depth of experience and companionship. Andrew returned to Sydney and has just posted a new pair of boots for Harold to use on future treks.

Darren has his own story to tell as he found his grandfather's grave yesterday at Bomana. He is wearing his photograph and that of his two children as he makes his way in his grandfather's footsteps. Am sure plenty of emotions will run through Darren as he makes his way to the finish line in Kokoda.

Darren is going really well and our guide joked that he left him behind at the back while he was just up ahead with Essau. I could hear him in the background laughing as Harold was talking on the phone. He mentioned again that Darren was so pleased to be able to visit his grandfathers gravesite who passed away at the age of 23 and is buried at Bomana. Tonight finds them at Ioribaiwa Village.

This group finds themselves at Agulogo where they are camped for the night. Tomorrow they plan on reaching the half way point of Efogi. They all continue to do well with no problems whatsoever. They had a tough day as its a hard walk up Maguli Range.

This trek has now reached the half way point - EFOGI - tomorrow they head to the foot of Mt Bellamy the highest point on the track. Harold said they have made good progress so a decision was made to do a detour into Myola Lakes tomorrow.
