A lone trekker commenced his walk in Kokoda around 7am this morning. His name is Justin Penglase and he is walking with Ivan Semie and Harry Mendari. Sorry no photographs as he declined and did not want this. Justin was booked to fly on the morning flight yesterday but it was cancelled. He then flew over on the afternoon flight at 1pm. On arrival in Popondetta he was met by Robroy in our hired 4WDrive and driven up to Kokoda arriving around 6pm last night. Justin spent the night with Ivan and his family at Saga Village. Ivan travelled earlier this year to Australia as the guest of one of our trekkers who walked the track with Ivan as a personal porter. Ivan took him all over Australia as was her appreciation of how he looked after her on the Kokoda Trail. Maryanne seen in the photograph with Angela, cooked him a meal last night which I believe was pizza. All the best Justin for a great time with Ivan and Harry.

Correction, just received a message from Ivan. He said they reached Deniki at 7am and were at their destination of Isurava Village at 2pm this afternoon. Therefore to be at Deniki by 7am shows they left Kokoda much earlier than I previously stated. Tomorrow the plan is to head to Eora Creek. According to Ivan, they are all doing ok.

Ivan called up by sat phone to say they have reached Eora Creek. He said they are all ok and that its been raining so they cut Justin a stick. Depending on how Justin goes tomorrow, the plan is to reach 1900. He found it tough going today so tomorrow they will take it easy as they make their way along the track. Earlier today they passed through Isurava Memorial area followed by Alola Village as they made their way to Eora Creek.

Message from Ivan just came through on my phone: 'Good afternoon' Boss, Justin has sore knees and has struggled but we arrived at the campsite area around 4:30pm. All good, tomorrow we will reach the half way point of Efogi.

Good News and Bad News today: The good news is that the group arrived in Efogi around midday and Justin is ok and going well. The bad news is the boys food for the second half failed to show up in Efogi. A few urgent messages back and forth to Airborne Logistics, and all going well it will go in by chopper first light tomorrow to Menari now not Efogi.

This trek ended early due to our trekker now back in Port Moresby receiving care at the Pacific International Hospital.  He was airlifted out of Agulogo where they spent last night along with Ivan and Harry our staff.

Justin is ok and resting in hospital.
