Single lone trekker Suzie Bowen departed Port Moresby earlier this morning to fly over to Popondetta for the commencement of her trek.  The guide for this trek is Trevor Jinga.  Walking alongside her as a personal porter is the current trek champion, Ramsey Idau.  A couple of years ago Ramsey won our Kokoda Challenge non stop race in a time of 18 hours.  As this is a fast trek, 5 nights, 6 days, I selected him as per porter.  Walking with them is also an experienced guide Harold Hauro in the role of a food porter on this trek when another guy selected for this trek contacted us to say he was sick and could not walk.

Approx 10:30am saw Suzie reach Kokoda for the commencement of her trek.  The original aim was to head to Isurava Village for the night but the group made a decision to stop at Deniki instead.

Tomorrow morning they plan to set off early so they can reach Eora Creek.

Message received from Trevor Jinga. We arrived at Eora Creek at 3:39pm. Suzie is doing just fine. We experienced rain at Alola and its continuing even now. Tomorrow we are heading for Naduri and looking forward to another day on the Kokoda Trail.

Trevor just called on our sat phone to say they have been going hard all day and are now at Efogi II.  I asked about Suzie and he remarked, she has not complained and no swear words!  So assume she is toughing it out and keeping her thoughts to herself as she moves up and down the many hills of the Kokoda Trail.  Keep going Suzie you are now at the half way point.  Tomorrow the plan is to reach Nauro Village.

Today the group made good progress and have found themselves on target by reaching Nauro Village. According to Trevor who called me, since leaving Kokoda Suzie has continued to smile all the way, zero complaints from her despite it being a tougher than normal trek as she chose to do it in 5 nights 6 days. They experienced rain today so the track was wet. Tomorrow they have heard there are some large groups heading towards them from Owers' Cnr. Plan a) is to head to Ua'Ule Creek. If they hear the rumours are correct through the kokoda grapevine, they will stop at Ioribaiwa Village for the night. Keep going Suzie, you are now heading for the finish line at Owers' Cnr.

Congratulations to Suzie as she just completed her walk across the Kokoda Trail when she finished a short time ago at Owers' Corner. Last night was spent at Ioribaiwa Village. I just spoke to the team and they had just pulled into Sogeri Lodge to buy some beer. Well done Suzie from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking.
