This trek moved off as planned early this morning and are presently making their way towards Owers' Corner the drop off point. Not only the trekkers but some boys on this trek, its their first walk of the year and judging by the text messages, they too are excited to soon be on the Kokoda Trail. Trekkers include: Zita and Cecilia Correia two sisters and Kara Every along with their Australian guide Pat Vainerere doing his 33rd walk

As planned this trek has reached Ua'Ule Creek around 4:30pm this afternoon after stopping for a few breaks along the way. Everyone has done really well and Pat is quite pleased with their progress throughout the day. Tomorrow they will have a short day and head to Ofi Creek in readiness for the big climb the next day up Maguli Range. When I spoke to Pat they were all about to hit the creek for a wash and to cool off.

This trek arrived at Ofi Creek around 1pm today and when I spoke to Pat, the women were washing some clothes and getting organised in advance for the next day. He said they are moving along well and tomorrow plan a) will be to stop at Agulogo, plan b) Menari. Please note images are not of this trek but from our database of photographs. Photographs of the trek itself will be posted when Pat Vainerere returns to Australia.

Earlier today they would have walked through Ioribaiwa Village before heading down to Ofi Creek for the night.

The group decided to pull up at Agulogo for the night instead of pushing on to Menari. Kara is out the front powering along it seems. Today Cecilia had some knee problems but Zita her sister is ok at this stage. Tomorrow they will have another tough walk up to Brigade Hill before heading down to Efogi the half way point.

This group have now reached Efogi. Cecilia now has a splint on her leg and is ok going uphill but still toughing it out going downhill. Zita apparently had a really exhausting day but is ok. Kara slipped going down into Menari and must have put out her wrist to help stop her fall and sprained it, so she too is sporting a splint. Pat is having lots practice re first aid. He is confident though that they will reach Kokoda, one step at a time. Tomorrow they will head down to Templeton's Crossing to spend the night. So well done team you are now at the half way point.

Pat just called to say they are now at 1900 Myola Junction. Cecilia still doing it tough on the downhills but is still plowing along towards the finish line. Kara and Zita, no problems today. Seems its a pretty wet track at the moment and quite slippery. Go girls, not too far to go now.

Big big day today for this group. Very wet, slippery and Zita with sore knees! They are now at Alola Village and will walk off the track around 3pm tomorrow afternoon. According to Pat, no complaints for these ladies, they are just laughing and enjoying themselves despite the pain. Everyone is really buggered as they reached the Alola around 8:30pm. When I spoke with Pat, he said the boys were cooking and the girls were relaxing from their long day. Providing they can bounce back tomorrow morning, the plan is to start walking early. The first stop will be Isurava Memorial. Pat also mentioned that Kara is doing really well. Go girls you are ALMOST THERE!

Congratulations are in order for the 3 women who walked off the track in Kokoda along with Pat Vainerere their Australian guide and our supporting team of porters. Well done everyone from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking.

They arrived later than expected at 5pm this afternoon. Kara looks so happy with herself, pic below.
